I'm a jug
I am an empty water jug. You know those ones in pictures of drought ridden regions of the world. The jugs are able to hold a couple gallons of water. They are a white, translucent plastic that always ends up looking brown or red depending on the iron content of the dirt it sits on. In the background you see dry grass and a few barren trees. Maybe some mud huts off in the distance. When you imagine...

I've moved
For some of you who forgot to remove this blog from your daily blog feed, I’ve been kicking around. And flying around. I’ve moved. I’m thinking of putting some pictures and things up of where I’m living now as it is different from where I was living before. I might even throw up a video or two of the empty place I’m staying in right now. Is it empty if I have my all...

Revised Maps
Thanks to the ingenious Andrew (the one who ran the site while I biked the country), I have figured out how to show the maps properly. Each marker is a rough indication of where I stopped for the night. The really long distances which aren’t humanly possible to cover on a bicycle (especially over water) indicate other means of transportation. For example, Jasper to Edmonton is over...

Maps
I’m working on trying to figure out how to actually show all of the parts of the maps instead of showing just the middle sections. Please forgive my lack of tech savviness.

Taiwan Church Press Article
“A Once in a Lifetime Experience” by Peter McLean (麥永智)  “It’s a once in a lifetime experience” was a phrase I often heard in the summer of 1995. We were taking our last family vacation in Taiwan before moving back to Canada. My parents had decided that it would be a great experience to drive across the island to see a sunrise at the top of A-li-shan and drive up the east coast of...

Some stats
I realize it has been 3 weeks since I finished my trip. Looking back, I can say I had a great time. That’s not to say I didn’t have bad days, but even they don’t seem quite as bad now. I still don’t like wind though. I went for a run yesterday and I had wind blowing in my face for part of the route and it brought back some memories… Anyway, here are some general...

If I were a duck...
If I were a duck: (most of you can already tell I’m a quack) I would be flying across the country. My feathers would keep me warm. I would be waterproof. My face would be more aerodynamic due to my wonderful beak. I would need to rearrange my bags on my bicycle to allow my knees to bend backward. Cars would stop for me when I was riding on the road instead of trying to run me off...

Rain reflections (and more)
Why do dogs not like cyclists? Every time I pass a dog on my bike they bark at me. I’m not doing anything to them. If they’re chained up, they sprint out and almost do back flips when the chain pulls tight. And the times they aren’t chained up, they sprint out barking (this is when they know they can’t catch me) or they sprint out silently and then start barking when...
