I realize it has been 3 weeks since I finished my trip. Looking back, I can say I had a great time. That’s not to say I didn’t have bad days, but even they don’t seem quite as bad now. I still don’t like wind though. I went for a run yesterday and I had wind blowing in my face for part of the route and it brought back some memories…
Anyway, here are some general stats and info some people might find interesting:
Total km to Cape Spear: 8,656
Total including ride back to St. John’s: 8,692 km
Including training I made it over 9,000 km
I drank approximately 5 litres of water each day I rode
I rode my bike on 77 days
It took around 340 hours of riding
My average km/hr ended up being over 25 km/hr
Including my bicycle and gear I had an extra 90 lbs of gear
Lowest elevation was Sea Level
Highest elevation was Bow Pass at 2067 m
Food I ate the most of was either pizza or hamburger with fries
Granola bars and bagels were eaten throughout the day as snacks instead of eating a big lunch.
Interesting food eaten info: 6 blocks of cheese, around 20 full pizzas, ate a nanaimo bar and nanaimo ice cream in Nanaimo, pacific salmon, cod tongues, moose, Finnish pancakes, Persian, 2 Sally Annes, Pluot (75% plumb 25% apricot), beaver tail (deep fried batter), Maple pie, poutine, approximately 4,235 litres of water, and so much more.
Over the next little while I’ll try to post some pictures from the end of the trip, as well as put up some thoughts I’m still trying to sort through and word in a way that others will understand. I’ll also post anything I end up writing for other people, and (if I can figure it out) a slideshow.
